Our Scripture reading today is Ephesians 6:13-16.
Verse 16, "Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked."
The devil has quite the arsenal aimed at you and me. He has strategically placed his evil archers in places we least expected it. They are trained to hit the target every time. The target they are aiming at is our heart. The ultimate goal of our enemy is always destruction. Whatever it takes to get there, he will consistently and with great determination take aim at destroying our lives.
God has provided us a means to deflect all of these arrows of destruction. The Apostle Paul calls it the "shield of faith." This shield is strengthened and enlarged the more we meditate and memorize the Word of God. God's Word will provide us with a defense system that will protect us each and every time a dart is shot our way.
1 Peter 5:9, "Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world."
1 John 5:4, "For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith."
