Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 22:18-20.
Verse 19, "But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me."
When we read Psalm 22, we are looking ahead to the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus.  In addition, we hear the plea of help from David.  He desires for the LORD to be near him as his strength is found in Him.  He has enemies that would seek to destroy him, but the LORD will be his deliverer.
Each and every day, we are encouraged to draw near to our God.  Hebrews 10:22, "Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water."  Also we read in James 4:8, "Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded."  The shed blood of Jesus Christ makes it possible for sinners to draw near to God.  God is ready and waiting to draw near to us and help us to overcome whatever enemy is attacking.
