Our Scripture reading today is Luke 24:40-41.

Verse 41, "And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?"

The first part of verse forty-one is a rather interesting one.  Scripture tells us that the disciples joy prevented them from having faith.  It appears that the emotions of the moment got in the way of their believing it was really Jesus Christ.  "Their joy was so great that for a moment it was even an impediment to their faith." (Geldenhuys)

We are reminded this morning of what pleases God.  Our joy does not please God.  Our happiness does not please God.  Our success in life does not please God.  We do know from the Word of God what is pleasing to God.  Hebrews 11:6, "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."  The emotions may not be there, but God is not pleased by our emotions.  We are guaranteed to please our loving God today as we live it by FAITH!  God can be trusted.
