Our Scripture reading today is Luke 23:44-47.
Verse 45, "And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst."
The scene in verse 45 is not of little significance. Our direct access to our heavenly Father was made possible by this literal, but also symbolic tearing of the temple veil. No longer would a High Priest be needed for someone to approach Almighty God. Every follower of Jesus Christ has the ability to enter into God's presence through the righteousness and blood of Jesus Christ. Hebrews 9:24, "For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:" We have a holy representative in the Lord Jesus!
It is is an amazing privilege we have as sinners saved by grace to speak to the creator God. He welcomes us into His presence whenever we desire to come. Hebrews 4:16, "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." I am sure we could find more time to come boldly for mercy and grace. Ask and it shall be given!
