Our Scripture reading today is Luke 24:30-31.
Verse 31, "And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight."
Finally these men realize Who has been walking and talking with them. Their spiritual eyes were opened. It was not just a simple stranger who knew the words of the prophets of old. It was none other than the risen Lord!
The prayer request we should make for every lost sinner headed for hell ought to be that their eyes would be opened to the truth of the Gospel. Satan is very good at blinding the eyes of the lost. 2 Corinthians 4:4, "In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them."
As we heard last night, we should also pray for our eyes to be opened to the truth. Psalm 119:18, "Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law."
