Our Scripture reading today is Luke 9:57-58.
Verse 57, "And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest."
There is certainly a willingness to follow the Lord Jesus from this man who approached Him.  What we cannot see is the motive behind his willingness.  Jesus obviously knew his motive and that more than likely led to His reply in verse 58.  It may have seemed like the popular thing to do since Jesus had been doing miracles.  Who would't want to be a follower of a miracle worker?
A challenge that comes to mind this morning is in regards to our following Jesus no matter where He leads us.  Are we willing to follow Him if many or few are following Him?  Are we willing to follow Him if we are healthy and wealthy and or when we are sick and poor?  Take inventory today and see what you've allowed into your life.  Is it drawing you closer to the Lord or pulling you away from Him?   Jesus and Jesus only is worthy of our faithful and loyal service.  May God help us to follow Him wherever He leads us!
