Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 94:22, "But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the
rock of my refuge."
We have the same promise that God is our refuge. A refuge is a shelter or protection
from danger or distress. Every day there comes a time or times when we need this
refuge. Psalm 9:9, "The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in
times of trouble." There is encouragement as well in the word, "is". "The LORD IS
my defence." "My God IS the rock." This indicates that God is a present tense
rock of refuge and defence. What was good for the Psalmist is also good for us.
