Our Scripture reading today is Luke 9:16-17.

Verse 17, "And they did eat, and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets."

This miracle of Jesus that is recorded in all four Gospels teaches us many spiritual lessons.  A young lad was willing to give his lunch to the Lord Jesus and it led to the miracle feast.  I was reminded this morning that the entire crowd went home filled.  They were filled with Jesus teaching as well as fish and bread.

The needs that this world have can only be filled by a relationship with the God.  Jesus Christ death, burial and resurrection make this relationship possible.  He is still able and willing to fill every hungry soul.  "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled." Matthew 5:6  Our daily responsibility is to be filled so that we have something to give to those in need.  You could say we give them a portion of the twelve baskets that remained.
