Our Scripture reading today is 2 Timothy 4:10, "For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia."
How many times have we started something only to put off finishing it?  How many times have we made a spiritual decision only to fall back into the way we were living?  Demas is someone who started off being a fellow servant with Paul.  Philemon 1:24, "Marcus, Aristarchus, Demas, Lucas, my fellowlabourers."  It is quite clear from our verse for today what happened.  Instead of finding fulfillment in living for the eternal, Demas shifted his love to the temporal.
Is God speaking to you again about the dangers of loving this present world?  It has been our subject the past two Wednesday nights.  If you were unable to attend the services, I would encourage you to take the time and listen to the Bible truths that were given.  The system of this world is under the control of Satan.  Everything about it is in direct opposition to our loving Heavenly Father.  It matters not where we are in our walk with God, our enemy will try and use the world to allure and distract us from living for what abides forever - the will of God.  Take inventory today and make sure your love for the world is getting weaker and weaker not stronger and stronger.  By God's grace let's finish our course strong for the glory of God!
