Our Scripture reading today is Matthew 18:21-22, "Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven."
One of the most important commands in the Bible is found in these verses.  It is imperative that we seek the help of the Lord in being willing to always forgive.  This would apply whether or not the individual seeks to be forgiven.  Forgiveness is freedom to the one who has been offended.  An unwillingness to forgive brings bitterness and bondage and in some cases is worse than the actual offence.
Forgiveness has been made available to all sinners.  God is holy and we are unholy, and yet He offers us forgiveness.  The Apostle Paul gives us the reason God so graciously forgives us in Ephesians 4:32, "And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."  We must follow the example of our God and forgive others for Christ's sake.  If the perfect, creator God forgives sinners like us, surely we can forgive other sinners.
