Our Scripture reading today is John 8:36, "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."
Slavery is still a problem in 2022.  The slavery I am referring to is in regards to grip that sin can have on our lives.  Sin is not a loving master.  Sin is cruel and hateful and always ends in death.  James 1:15, "Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death."  Why would anyone continue to live in bondage to sin?
Our verse of Scripture today gives all sinners hope of freedom!  The freedom we can have is not in and of ourselves.  “So the slave of sin cannot by himself change his status. He cannot convert himself, nor can he be converted by any fellow-sinner… The liberator from our bondage must come from outside the ranks of enslaved humanity.” (Tasker)  Our liberator is none other than the sinless Son of God.  2 Corinthians 5:21, "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."  The more we abide in Him and in the Word of God, the more victories we will see in our daily lives.  Freedom is actually a relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ.  Make the choice today to abide in the Vine of freedom!
