Our Scripture reading today is Acts 1:14, "These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren."
Jesus Christ is now no longer physically in the presence of those whom He loved and
served with for over three years. What would they do now? Jesus had told them to
wait in Jerusalem for the empowerment from the Father. We find them gathering
together for a time of prayer. When is the last time you gathered together with a group
of people just to pray? How often does this happen in your life? I can say with
confidence that Christians need to spend more time in private and corporate prayer.
The shed blood of the Lord Jesus makes it possible for us to enter into the presence of
God. We have a Great High Price that gives us access to bring our petitions to the
Father. Our Wednesday Bible lesson gave great emphasis to prayer and how we should
go about it. More labour could be accomplished for the LORD if we spent time in
prayer prior to the labour.
