Our Scripture reading today is 1 Peter 1:23-25.
Verse 25, "But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you."
The Apostle Peter is quoting from Isaiah 40:8, "The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever."  The Word of God endures for ever because God endures for ever.  He is above and before all.  We are blessed to have a copy of His Word.  It is for our spiritual growth as well as what we need to share with those who are lost in their sin.  The Word of God is still changing lives today.  “God’s Word never dies, God’s Word never changes. There are some who think we ought to get a new gospel every few years or even every few weeks, but that was not Peter’s notion. He wrote, and he was divinely inspired to write, concerning ‘the Word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.'” Spurgeon
The message that our country needs is found in the Word of God.  It is not a political message.  It is a message of faith and repentance to God.  Acts 20:21, "Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ."  This is the message we need to be sharing by our walk and talk.  God's Word endures for ever!
