Our Scripture reading today is Lamentations 3:21-25.
Verse 22, "It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not."
Even in a time of judgment, it was said of the LORD that His compassion will be known by His children. “The passage is full of beauty, as it deals with that tender compassion of God which had never been absent even in the work of punishment.” (Morgan) His love for us is unconditional. This means that we do not need to perform in such a way that would cause Him to love us. God is love!
The love that God has for us should be shared with others around us. Our compassion for people comes from the compassion God has given us. His Spirit indwelling us will help us to love even the unlovely. There is no doubt many people we know or even strangers that come across our path that need someone to show them compassion. We will show them Jesus Christ when we show them compassion and love.
