Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 119:9, "Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking
heed thereto according to thy word."

Simple obedience to the Word of God will keep us from going astray and following the
deception of our enemy. The Bible has power to overcome any and all temptation. While
this promise is not only for the young man, it is important for the young person to start
in the right way. They are setting the course for their rest of their life. “From the heartfelt prayers of
the surrounding verses it would seem that the young man is the psalmist himself in the first place.
He is praying rather than preaching.” (Kidner)

We need more of God's Word in our lives. Typically, the Christian who ignores the
Word of God will eventually struggle to have victory in their Christian life.
“Young man, the Bible must be your chart, and you must exercise great watchfulness that your way
may be according to its directions. You must take heed to your daily life as well as study your Bible,
and you must study your Bible that you may take heed to your daily life. With the greatest care a man
will go astray if his map misleads him; but with the most accurate map he will still lose his road if he
does not take heed to it.” (Spurgeon)

Let God's Word keep you the Way He has planned for you!
