Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 119:24, "Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counsellors."
One of the words in Psalm 119 that refers to the Word of God is testimonies.  They brought a sense of peace and joy to the psalmist.  It was the testimonies of God that directed the path of the psalmist in the way that he should go.  “Most men covet a prince’s good word, and to be spoken ill of by a great man is a great discouragement to them, but the Psalmist bore his trial with holy calmness.... While his enemies took counsel with each other the holy man took counsel with the testimonies of God.” (Spurgeon)
The first place we should turn when we need counsel is the Word of God.  God is still speaking by His Spirit and through His Word.  It has been tested and proven time and time again.  Psalm 119:89, "For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven."  God's Word will guide us through life when we cannot see ahead.  Psalm 119:105, "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."  If you have strayed away from your time in God's Word, get back to it today.  Don't miss out on the daily wisdom and encouragement He has prepared for you.
