Our Scripture reading today is 1 Samuel 9:6, "And he said unto him, Behold now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honourable man; all that he saith cometh surely to pass: now let us go thither; peradventure he can shew us our way that we should go."
The descriptive word given to the man of God is one that we should strive to have placed
on our lives. This man was someone who spoke in such a way that honour and respect
was to be given him. His reputation was not tarnished. He could be trusted when he
spoke.
We should seek to be men and women who are honourable. The first and foremost place
to be honourable is in our homes. Do we speak the truth in love? Do our actions and
words agree with one another? Are we willing to apologize to a family member when
we were in the wrong? Our being honourable is very important regarding our witness.
Who would believe your Gospel message when your reputation at work is school is not
honourable? Let's ask God's Spirit to help us to be an honourable ambassador for God.
Your friend,
Pastor
