Our Scripture reading today is Matthew 8:8-10.
Verse 10, "When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel."
A Gentile leader of at least one hundred soldiers moves the Lord Jesus to marvel at his faith.  It wasn't his position that moved the Master, but it was His humility and faith.
The combination of humility and faith is one every follower of Jesus Christ needs in their daily walk.  Last night in the men's prayer meeting, I read two verses from Hebrews 11.  "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." (Verse 1 and 6)
The centurion exemplified the promise found in verse 6. He diligently sought the Lord Jesus for the impossible and was greatly rewarded with the healing of his servant.  His example not only benefitted his servant but also all those who were watching this event unfold.  We, too, are not worthy to enter His presence with our impossible requests.  Our entrance must be with humility and faith!  God is able!
