Our Scriptue reading today is James 1:13-15.
Verse 14, "But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed."
The illustrations that come to mind when reading this verse are hunting and fishing.  The hunter and fisherman are attempting to draw the animal away and entice them to take the bait.  Hunters are known to use certain calls that sound like an animal and fisherman use lures that look like a tasty meal.  While calls and lures definitely contribute to their ultimate demise, there is also their inborn nature and hunger that contribute to them taking the bait.
We have an enemy who is daily on the hunt attempting to lure people in with all kinds of calls and lures.  He knows what will enitce us to be drawn away.  He has a specific plan for everyone.  The goal of the plan is destruction.  As God's children, we have been given special vision to be able to distinguish whether we should or shouldn’t do something.  John 16:13 tells us, "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come."  Instead of listening to the flesh, we need to rely on the leading of God's Spirit.  He will help us to identify the lures of our enemy.
