Our Scripture reading today is John 5:16-18.
Verse 18, "Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God."
The Jews mentioned here in John 5 were right and wrong.  They were right that Jesus Christ is co-equal, co-eternal, and co-existent with God.  They were wrong in wanting to kill Him for it.  God's Word makes it clear to us that Jesus Christ isn't simply a good man or a prophet.  I will leave you with this example from the Gospel according to John.  John 1:1, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."  John 1:14, "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."  The Word is none other than the Jesus Christ and He is God!  This remains a fundamental and foundational doctrine of all that we believe and teach.
