Our Scripture reading today is Luke 10:21-22.

Verse 21, "In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight."

The Son of God is was excited about what was happening.  He was literally thrilled with joy over the ministry of His disciples.  God delights in using the weak to confound the wise.  1 Corinthians 1:27, "But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty."

This is the one and only place in the Gospels where it is recorded that Jesus expressed joy.  “We do not hear that he laughed, though it is thrice recorded that he wept; and here for once, as quite unique, we find the inspired assurance that he rejoiced.” (Spurgeon)

We, too, ought to be joyful over the work of the Lord that God enables us to be a part of.  It is an honour and privilege to serve the King of Kings.  The victories that we have are always through Jesus.  Every victory of ours or others is important and should always bring us joy.
