Our Scripture reading today is 1 Chronicles 28:9, "And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of
thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he
will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever."
There are several applications that could be made from this verse of Scripture. The one
that stands out to me this morning is how David challenged Solomon to know God. David
let him know that he followed God - "the God of they father". Our children and the
children of our church need to see God in us. They need to be taught with our lips and our
life that God has first place in our lives. Children begin to know about God from the
example of their parents. What do your children see in you that is teaching them about
God?
For those of us that do not have children in the home, we are around children all the time
at church. There are plenty of opportunities to impact youth and children. We need to
go out of our way to show them the love of God as well as teach them how they can know
God in a greater way.
