Our Scripture reading today is 2 Corinthians 4:1-5.
Verse 4, "In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them."
We have the answer for the spiritual blindness in our world. It has been placed in our hands not just for our edification, but for those who a wandering aimlessly through life. God's Word is the only light that can penetrate the darkness provided by the god of this world. You have God's Word in your hands and it is has changed your life. I have God's Word in my hands and it has changed my life. The battleground is and always will be the mind. The Word of God can and does touch the minds of believers and unbelievers. Romans 10:17, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."
For over 21 years, Anchor Baptist Church has strived to shine the Light into Burnaby and beyond. Tracts and flyers have been mailed and personally delivered. Missionaries have been and continue to be supported. However, we have not done enough and we must pray to faithfully do more by the grace of Almighty God. The Gospel tract is still a tool that not enough Christians are using on a regular basis. Saturday outreach is wonderful, but what about Sunday - Friday outreach? There are people every day that are blinded by the god of this world who come across our path in need of LIGHT. May God's Spirit convict us to take advantage of every opportunity to shine the Gospel today!
