Our Scripture reading today is Deuteronomy 6:4-7.

Verse 5, "And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and will all thy might."

The motivation or foundation for how we should live the Christian life is found in this one verse.  The Christian life is not to be looked at as a matter of duty.  We have the amazing privilege to be called a child of God.  This is very undeserving, but Jesus Christ makes us qualified.  As we consider the path God opened to Him, it will help us to love Him as we should.  God, Himself, provided love first that we might love Him.  1 John 4:19, "We love him, because he first loved us."

The love that we have for God will be revealed in how we live our lives.  As the saying goes, "Our actions speak louder than words."  We might say we love God, but is the way we are living confirming or contradicting this statement?  John 14:15, "If ye love me, keep my commandments." My love for God will lead my to following His will and keeping His commandments.
