Our Scripture reading today is Acts 2:41-42.
Verse 42, "And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers."
The early church did not have it "easy" when it came to gathering together.  There was religious and political persecution to overcome.  In Acts 2:42, we are introuced to a group of people who "continued stedfastly."  These were devoted people who persevered when it came to their involvement in the church.  Please take note of the areas in which they were faithful: doctrine (teaching and preaching), fellowship, most likely the Lord's table, and prayer.  When we are missing from the local church, we are missing out on all of these.
What best describes your involvement in your local church?  Are you continuing stedfastly?  Are you devoted to the Word of God and the importance it places on the local church?  I pray that these challenging questions will bring us to a place of true love for the Lord and His church.
I thought I would include a link to Evangelist Scott Pauley's podcast.  It goes right along with our theme today.
