Our Scripture reading today is 2 Corinthians 12:15, "And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved."
The Apostle Paul had a great desire to be a blessing and encouragement to the people
of God at Corinth. He was willing to spend his life for them in order that they might
follow Christ more faithfully. The last part of the verse is quite interesting. He is loving
them in a greater way and yet he is being loved less by the people. Unfortunately, this is
still true today. I have experienced this time and time again in the work of the Lord. The
people you love the most are often the ones who hurt you the most. Please do not read
this statement and think you do not want to love anyone any more. The point to be taken
is that we are not to love people for love in return. We are to love people for Christ sake.
By the grace of God, I plan to continue to love the people of Burnaby and beyond. May
we all love others because God has abundantly loved us!
