Our Scripture reading today is Lamentations 3:24, "The LORD is my portion, saith my
soul; therefore will I hope in him."
When a sinner turns to Christ for salvation, God provides them eternal life by giving
them Himself. The Spirit of God indwells every born again believer. Every child
of God has placed their hope in the creator God to be their portion now and for
all eternity. Salvation is for the present as much as it is for the future. Psalm 119:57,
"Thou art my portion, O LORD: I have said that I would keep thy words."
Have you placed your hope in something or someone besides the LORD? If so, it is
time to repent and look to the Lamb of God for your souls salvation. He is the only
hope for the lost, hell-bound sinner. In addition, the LORD is the only hope for
the saint who is dealing with diverse temptations. The daily task of the believer
is to turn his or her eyes on Jesus. He will cause the things of Earth to grow dim
in the light of His glory and grace.
