Our Scripture reading today is Philippians 2:3, "Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves."
Give someone else the last piece of blackberry pie! That would be a challenging
application for me to this verse. This is what Paul is telling the Philippian Christians to
do. Let someone else have the more preferred parking space at the store. These two
examples seem trivial, but they do reveal something deeper.
When all believers live this way, everyone is looked up to and no one is looked down
on. We are all created in the image of God and deserve to be treated with compassion
and dignity.
