Our Scripture reading today is Romans 12:17, 21, "Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things
honest in the sight of all men. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good."
These verses go complete against what our flesh wants to do. We want to get even
with someone was fast as we possibly can. If someone offends or hurts us, it is
our fleshly desire to do the same and even more back to that individual. Paul writes
that we should be good to those who are evil to us. This was especially challenging
to whom Paul was originally writing. These Roman Christians were under the heavy
hand of Nero. Talk about someone who was evil!
Today would be a good day to start practicing what we are told to do in these
words of the Bible. There is far too much evil in our world. It can only be
overcome with good. Ask the Holy Spirit to enable you to spread good everywhere
you go.
