Our Scripture reading today is Isaiah 27:5, "Or let him take hold of my strength, that he may
make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me."
God has all the strength and mercy that we need. His strength enables us to live each
day in His will and for His glory. It is impossible for us to be productive without the
strength of the Lord. We are much too weak to bear fruit in our own power. Take ahold
of God's might and watch what He is able to do.
Peace with God is a beautiful thing to have. Only through Jesus Christ can someone
have this peace. “Verse 5 is a neglected Old Testament promise of forgiveness to the penitent. In
verse 4 the God of battles is marching against the briers and the thorns with a flaming torch in his hand.
He is about to set fire to this rank undergrowth, but before doing so he proclaims the alternative
of peace.” (Grogan)
