Our Scripture reading today is Matthew 5:8, "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God."
Is your heart divided? Do you have someone or something that has more of your
attention than God? A pure heart is not divided. A pure heart is committed to the One
Who provided forgiveness and salvation. “Christ was dealing with men’s spirits, with their inner and
spiritual nature. He did this more or less in all the Beatitudes, and this one strikes the very center of the
target as he says, not ‘Blessed are the pure in language, or the pure in action,’ much less ‘Blessed
are the pure in ceremonies, or in raiment, or in food;’ but ‘Blessed are the pure in heart.’” (Spurgeon)
The pure in heart will have a deeper relationship with God. Since God is the goal, we
should pray regularly to God for His to help in maintaining a pure heart.
