Our Scripture reading today is Luke 4:3-4, "And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. And Jesus answered him, saying It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God."
Did the devil know Jesus Christ was the Son of God?  I would have to say that he sure did.  The devil is always trying to deceive in his asking of questions.  Genesis 3:1, "Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?"  The devil knew the truth, but seeks to place a question in the mind of Adam and Eve.
It is quite possible the devil knows more of the Word of God than many born again Christians.  This makes the importance of knowing God's Word even greater.  Our enemy always seek to mix error and truth which is a dangerous combination especially to those who know little of God's Word.  After we get saved, it is important that we become a diligent student of the Word of God.  2 Timothy 2:15, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."  When our enemy comes at us questioning what God said in His Word, we will be ready.
