Our Scripture reading today is Revelation 20:6, "Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years."
Maybe you have heard the expression it is better to be born twice and die once than to be born once and die twice. We know from the Word of God that physical death is not the end. Hebrews 9:27, "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:" We also read in Revelation 20:14, "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death." God's Word makes it clear there will be a physical and spiritual death to those who are not born again of the Spirit of God.
The main verse we are highlighting today gives us great peace and hope. In Jesus Christ, the second death has no power over us. Jesus Christ provided the greatest of all victories when He conquered sin, death, Hell and the grave. 1 Corinthians 15:57, "But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." Regardless of those evil rulers who are in power today, there is coming a day when we will rule and reign with Him!
