Our Scripture reading today is Habakkuk 3:2, "O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD,
revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy."
The need in Habakkuk's day can be seen in the day we live in as well. There must be a
turning back to holy and humble living. God's people need to repent of sin and put God
first in their life. A personal revival is what I am describing. Today's church is filled
with too many backslidden Christians. There are church members who have not spoken
the name of Christ to anyone in months and even years. There are numerous believers
who have bailed out on God and stopped attending Bible preaching churches. Is this
why Christ died a horrific death? Is this why God turned His back on His only begotten
Son? Did God prove His love to us so we would one day live in rebellion?
Our world is not the problem. Backslidden Christians are the problem. God's people
must get back to Him. God is waiting to forgive and restore. God is waiting to bless
His people. Ask God today for a personal revival!
I like what one individual wrote about this great need.
Check your conduct — does your walk glorify the LORD as it should? How about your private conduct, which only the LORD sees?
Check your conversation — is your speech profane or impure? Do you talk about Jesus with others?
Check your communion — are you living a growing, abiding life with Jesus?
It is time to repent of all known sin. It is time to get right with God. It is time to ask
for the joy of our salvation to be restored.
