Our Scripture reading today is Ecclesiastes 9:12, "For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them."
The comparison is made to an individual who is not living a discerning life and an animal who cannot discern enough to stay away from the net or the snare. The animal sees the lure but cannot see beyond it to the trap or the hook.
God has provided us with the vision needed to see through the snares, nets and hooks of our enemy.  God's children have God's Spirit living in us.  If we yield to His leading in our lives it will help us to avoid the pitfalls of Satan.  On our own, we are no match for Satan's lures.  May we take the time each and every day to seek the discernment of God's Spirit.  James 1:5, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."
