Our Scripture reading today is 2 Chronicles 20:17, "Ye shall not need to fight in this battle:
set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem:
fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you."
The promise that was given to the Israelites regarding a physical military battle can be
claimed today in the daily battles we face. A statement that stood out to me this morning
is "set yourselves". What did this mean and what does it still mean today? God's people
are to "station oneself, take one's stand, stand, present oneself, stand with someone." Are you standing
with the One Who is all powerful? Are you faithfully following His
directives? If we are to experience victory in Jesus, we need to set ourselves according to His Word.
We need to make it clear by our lips and our life that we are on the Lord's side.
Francis Havergal wrote the following lyrics:
Who is on the Lord’s side?
Who will serve the King?
Who will be His helpers,
other lives to bring?
Who will leave the world’s side?
Who will face the foe?
Who is on the Lord’s side?
Who for Him will go?
By Thy call of mercy,
by Thy grace divine,
we are on the Lord’s side.
Saviour, we are Thine.
Determine today to "set yourself" in His army and never turn back!
