Good LORD'S Day Morning,

Our Scripture reading today Matthew 16:23, "But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men."

The LORD Jesus had left the glories of Heaven to be the sacrifice that would
redeem all mankind.  Anyone and this included the Apostle Peter that said
anything to stop this sacrifice would receive the rebuke that Christ gave.  The
ways of God and man will always be in conflict to one another.  He is always
right and we need to be willing to yield to Him.  “Origen suggested that, Jesus was saying to Peter: ‘Peter, your place is behind me, not in front of me. It is your place to follow me in the way I choose, not to try to lead me in the way you would like me to go.’” (Barclay)
