Our Scripture reading today is 1 Samuel 17:43, "And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods."

Goliath was not impressed with the "warrior" that was sent by King Saul to fight him.  David definitely did not cause Goliath any fear of being defeated.  I think it was almost an insult to his manhood.  Goliath was looking for a real fight and this little puny teenager was not worth his time.  He probably had a difficult time spotting David on the battlefield.

As we journey through life day by day, we will come up against Goliath like temptations and trials.  The only way to approach them is by being dressed in the armour of God.  (Read Ephesians 6:14-18) We have the tools necessary to conquer the mightiest of foes.  Romans 8:37, "Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us."
