Our Scripture reading today is Genesis 12:1-3.

Verse 2, "And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:"

Our Heavenly Father is ready to bless us today just as He did in the days of Abraham.  The blessings of God on Abraham's life were to overflow to those he would come in contact with.  Abraham was to be a blessing to others.  It wasn't in Abraham to be a blessing.  It was God's blessing in Abraham that would be an encouragement to others.

Think for just a moment about all the blessings God has given to you.  In 1 Timothy 6:17, we read that God gives us "richly all things to enjoy."  God is so good to us.  God has blessed us with much more than we deserve.  The blessings of God are not meant to collect and put in storage boxes.  We ought to be using the blessings of God to be a blessing to others.  I am reminded of the acrostic for JOY - JESUS; OTHERS; YOU.  Pass along the blessings of God to someone today!

Philippians 2:3, "Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves."
