Our Scripture reading today is Luke 6:30-31, "Give to every man that asketh of thee: and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise."
How would you want to be treated?  How would you want someone to speak to you?  The answer to these and other similar questions will tell us how we should treat or speak to others.  The "Golden Rule" was not new to the people, but the Lord Jesus made the it even broader in these verses of Scripture.  This rule should motivate us to look for ways we can serve others.  If we see someone in need, we should consider how we want to be helped.  We definitely want to be loved and provided for in the case of a need.  “Oh, that all men acted on it, and there would be no slavery, no war, no swearing, no striking, no lying, no robbing; but all would be justice and love! What a kingdom is this which has such a law!” (Spurgeon)
We will need to seek the help of the Holy Ghost in order to fulfill this rule.  It is not natural, but it can be accomplished by the Holy Ghost working in and through us.
