Our Scripture reading today is 1 John 5:11-13.
Verse 12, "He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life."
The life referred to in this verse is not physical life but eternal life. We come to this conclusion by reading verse 11 and 13. If someone is to never die spiritually it will be because of Jesus Christ. The way to Heaven is both simple and narrow. It is simple in the fact that even a child can come to Jesus Christ and be born again. Matthew 19:14, "But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." The narrowness of the way to Heaven refers to there being only ONE option. Matthew 7:14, "Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."
Sinners, like me, can come to God the Father through Jesus Christ. His sacrificial death paid the penalty for the sins of all mankind. We come by grace through FAITH. Ephesians 2:8, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:" Any other ideas of obtaining eternal life are faulty and will end in death in Hell. As we consider the spiritual world, there are only two groups of people: The Haves and The Have Nots. Do you have Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour? If so, then you have eternal life and nothing can take that away from you. If you have never accepted Jesus Christ as the ONLY way to Heaven, then you must, by faith, humbly turn to Jesus Christ today. He loves you and will give you eternal life!
