Our Scripture reading today is Romans 7:22-23, "For I delight in the law of God after the inward
man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me
into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members."
The Apostle Paul is sharing from his own inward battles that is in impossible to live
the Christian life in the power of self. We still possess the ability to sin and the flesh
is more than willing to lead the way when given the chance. However, we can delight
in the law of God when we walk in the Spirit. The Holy Spirit is also ready and
willing to be our guide through life. He, too, is waiting for us to yield to Him. He will
keep us from being captive to the world, our flesh, and the devil.
A daily decision and quite possibly several daily decisions are made to die to self and
be alive to the Spirit of God. Christians who are losing battles are losing by choice.
They are making the wrong choices which lead them to their defeat. If this describes
your life, it is time to choose wisely according to the Word of God and the leading of
the Holy Spirit. Life's decisions should not be made by our feelings. They should be
made based on truth!
