Our Scripture reading today is James 1:25, "But whoso looketh into the perfect
law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work,
this man shall be blessed in his deed."
We are admonished to regularly look into the Word of God. Allowing it to reveal what
God wants to teach us. God's Word will never lead us in the wrong direction. “The glass of the Word
is not like our ordinary looking-glass, which merely shows us our external features; but, according to
the Greek of our text, the man sees in it ‘the face of his birth’; that is, the face of his nature. He that reads
and hears the Word may see not only his actions there, but his motives, his desires, his inward condition.” (Spurgeon)
Looking into and obeying the Word of God leads to the blessed life. Our attitude when we open the
Bible should not be merely for information but for transformation. God's Word changes lives.
Be willing to be submissive to the plan of God.
