Our Scripture reading today is Luke 8:22-24.

Verse 24, "And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm."

The Lord Jesus is amazingly able to be calm and even sleep during a storm.  It actually shows us His humanity in that he needed to sleep.  We also see His complete trust in His Father.  He had already said they were going to the other side and He just happens to be the Creator.  John 1:3, "All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made."  The disciples could not have been safer if they were on dry land.  They were in the same boat as Jesus.

If we are in the same boat today as Jesus, we are in the safest place we could be.  We can rest in the assurance that His will is what is best for us.  The enemy is doing his best to destroy and or discourage.  As long as we are in the boat with Jesus, we are safe and secure.  Remember, being in the will of God does not negate storms from our life, but it does mean that God's Spirit is near.  We could say that we recognize His Spirit is near when we are walking closely with God.

It is possible to be thankful for the storms that God allows in our lives.  He is building something in us for His glory!
