Our Scripture reading today is 1 Corinthians 3:16, "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?"
As followers of Jesus Christ, we are not just like the rest of the world.  The Apostle Paul refers to us as the "temple of God".  This can refer to the church as well as individual believers.  1 Peter 2:5, "Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ."  When we gather together for church we are the temple of God.  In addition, the Holy Spirt is indwelling every born again believer.  1 Corinthians 6:19, "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?"
Knowing this truth should bring us great peace and courage.  We are never alone and we have the power of God's Spirit at our disposal.  Hebrews 13:5, "Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."  Today, as with every day, we can live knowing that we are secure in the hands of almighty God!
