Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 31:14-15, "But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou
art my God. My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them
that persecute me."
Is God in control of everything? Is His will always best for us? Yes and yes are the
answers to those questions. While we might be quick to answer, there are times in
each of our lives where from our view everything is out of control. The psalmist was
thankful that his times or his life was in the hand of God. John 10:29, "My Father, which gave them
me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand." These were the words
of Jesus Christ during His earthly ministry. There is great confidence and security in knowing we are
in the hand of God. The key to it all is placing our trust in Him.
Over the last three years there have been a number of times when I doubted the
times that were allowed in my life. Doubt always leads to fear. Of course, we know
that our enemy loves it when we allow fear into our lives. It came directly from him.
“If we believe that all our times are in God’s hand, we shall be expecting great things from our heavenly
Father. When we get into a difficulty we shall say, ‘I am now going to see the wonders of God, and to
learn again how surely he delivers them that trust in him.’” (Spurgeon)
May God continue to be glorified in whatever time we are in.
