Our Scripture reading today is Luke 8:54-56.
Verses 54-55, "And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise. And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat."
The hand of Grace reached out for this young ladies hand and the voice of the Lord called for her to get up. This voice commands all power and could raise this dead young lady to life. It was the same voice that spoke the world into existence. John 1:3, "All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made."
We have the same power available to us today in the written Word of God. It is more than capable of bringing a dead soul to life. 1 Corinthians 15:22, "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive." It is also more than capable of providing us with daily victory over temptation. Ephesians 6:17, "And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." Our words are weak and can easily be defeated, but the Word of the Lord will stand forever.
