Our Scripture reading today is Deuteronomy 17:18-20.
Verse 19, "And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them:"
God wanted everyone from the king on down to be a student of His Word.  It was to be his constant companion.  The king would need wisdom and to learn how to fear God.  God's Word would provide both.
The emphasis we hear almost every Sunday of reading God's Word is obviously not a new concept.  Maybe you have read these verses before but today this particular truth was emphasized.  It matters not our level of responsibility, every one needs to be in the Word of God every day.  The more we are in the Word and the Word is in us, the less we will yield to temptation.  God's Word provides us with the power and wisdom to be victorious.
Joshua 1:8, "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success."
