Our Scripture reading today is Matthew 18:21-22, "Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven."
I cannot think of a better way to end a year and begin a new year.  Unlimited forgiveness is the theme of the Lord Jesus discussion with Peter.  It seems that the Rabbis of this day said to forgive three times so Peter offering seven times was more than double what was being taught.  Seven is also the number of completion.  The Lord Jesus reply can be summarized in a few words, "Stop counting" or "Unlimited Forgiveness".
As we are on the eave of 2023 is there anyone you need to forgive?  Might I suggest not carry it over into the new year.  When we forgive, we are more like God.  Psalm 78:38, "But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath."  Ephesians 4:32, "And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."  Don't delay on forgiving someone and by God's grace make it habit.
