Our Scripture reading today is 1 John 3:2, "Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is."
The very moment a sinner turns to Jesus Christ for salvation they become a child of God.  Romans 8:16, "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:"  It is the new birth that Jesus Christ spoke to Nicodemus about in John 3.  We are "born again" by the Spirit of God.  This new birth guarantees that there will come a day when we will see our Saviour face to face.  It will either come by way of physical death or the Rapture.  What a day that will be!  Not only will we be in His presence for all eternity, but we will be removed from the presence of sin and it's impact for all eternity.  Hallelujah!!
Only in Heaven will God's plan (make us like Jesus) for our lives be completely fulfilled.  Romans 8:29, "For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren."  Our text today tells us there will come a time when we shall "be like him".  Praise the Lord we are only here temporarily, but we will be in the presence of our Saviour forever!
